Re: Yeti vs. Mermite

I never found the Mermites to be particularly good coolers, I mean, if you put ice in plastic grocery sack, you can chill beer that way too but insulation makes all the difference. On my sailboat I use an Engel Deep Blue 35 cooler stowed in the bilge running block ice and it will keep ice for the en...

Re: Need a carburetor for a 2AO16 engine

Some ghosts of East Wind's past knowledge for you rick: You want an "old" carb even if you happen to get a real stinker since the older ones had brass floats and all the new ones had/have foam floats that expand and get stuck nearly immediately if presented with even the slightest amount of ethanol....

Re: M151a1 steering box needed

If you are replacing one that is bad do keep in mind that these are quite easy to fix with commercially available parts. Look for the part numbers in the Wiki.

Re: HARDTOP M416 TRAILER

Cut post off of the East Wind forum with some pics of the hard top we made for Stagg's Bantam Menace trailer: We make great use of trailers around here for storage.  This is not that practical to do with the Bantam Menace since it will just immediately fill full of leaves and walnuts.   We contrived...

Re: The consolidated story of M151A1 6001

And poof, it's sold. Gave a good deal to a guy from another group that will keep using as a military vehicle and not doll it up like a 65 Mustang and put do not touch signs on it. With that gents, I thank you all for your time and ride quietly off into the sunset. I learned a lot from you guys and a...

Re: The consolidated story of M151A1 6001

Time to rake up and old topic... With East Wind done with I am not really using this fellow like I used to and I'm sick if it just being another flat surface for people to stack things on in the shop. I plan on taking some pictures and writing up a for sale ad this week for it so someone who has mor...

Re: 3D Printed Jeep

My newest robotic packer here at work makes extensive use of printed parts. Greatly reduces stored inventory of spares and allows "on the fly" engineering updates.

I quite like it.

Re: Rt 442

Hi there, I have 2 of these surplus from Operation East Wind, both operate just fine but both have the left side handles removed. (All the ones we got in this lot had the left side removed) Both work, both have appropriate MT1898 mounts. https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5687/21967456562_59d7994460_z.jp...

Re: Photos of Eastwind M151s

It was not the pulled teeth, it was the PULLING of the teeth that screwed with the plan.

Try as you might, you'll not find many dentists willing to come pull teeth on a canoe in the middle of a race.

Re: Generator Maintenance

I maintained all of the East Wind trucks generators by changing them out for alternators which is a fairly easy thing to go in this neck of the woods since BFR metals out in Salina is scrapping 5 tons as fast as they can right now and generally sell stuff like alternators for little money. Just don'...

In tank. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7399/9011589815_4d003de25e_c.jpg All of the East Wind A1s have the carters in the tanks and we have never had fuel delivery problems since.
