M718 on Topeka Craigslist

Unread post by Carboarius » May 23rd, 2016, 9:04 pm

Here is a nice example of a titled uncut M718 if anyone is in the market. The unit appears to have all of the ambulance equipment and even a radio set up. I know we'd all like to have one but I am just not in the market, I figured I'd pass it along to the members on here. https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5577756279.html

Wow, that's the most complete 718 I have seen for sale...I think ever. I requested the additional pics because I want to see the radio setup. I have never seen one of these with a radio in it so I am wondering where it all fits. Only thing I cant verify is the litter gear for the driver side. It's not installed so he may not have it, or its just stowed. Neat!

This one has been listed a couple of times. More interested in the A2 on the front of the trailer though.

He's had it for sale a couple years, it started at 16k, I think he wants 12k for it now.

12 seems pretty good if it is as complete as TJ says it is, Assuming it is not all rotted out underneath.

It is missing a couple things, the fording intake and exhaust. I never saw an exhaust on a 718 but I have seen the intakes and I remember that because of the joke that the guy on the bottom litter was going to have a tough time during the fording process. It does have the fording valve.

So did the army version have fording? I don't see a marine bumper on it.

Don't know but it does have the Marine hubs on it. I don't know if they air lifted 718's but I have no idea how you would do it with the shackles and the spare tire mounted on the side rear. And with no wheel lifting eyes it would be real hard.

The pics he sent me had the Marine bumper on it so he must have changed it after the CL pics. The fording kit parts on the manifold are on every marine corps M151 when its delivered(This is what I was told anyway) However, they didn't always install the external components. In fact, under the rear body extension is a spot to hold the tailpipe extension when its not installed. I have seen it on some older photos of M718s with it still stowed there.

I have seen this M718 at the last two MVPA show that were held in Topeka. Its a nice M718 looks like its straight out of the military as the paint job is hand brushed on and has a huge USMC eagle globe and anchor sticker on the hood that looks like its been there for many many year. all in all a nice complete M718.

I have also taken a good look at it, pretty decent overall.
Has some rust in the usual frame areas, but no more than any other M151 that gets parked in the rain a few times.
It is missing a few trinkets, but was mostly complete.

Just didn't need an ambulance.
