That would be a nice project for someone. No pictures of the under body though.

I see all the underbody repair panels including the rear panel in the parts pile so I think that tells the story. Overall the body does not look bad though.

Re: NE Florida 2.2k in parts (not mine)
I responded to the CL ad a few days ago and asked for pictures of the tub. He did not respond. I saw the underbody parts, so like Rick, I bet the floors and frame are trash.
Also, the engine does not have the manifolds on, so water in the head and cylinders is a possibility. I asked if it was stored inside or out... no answer.
Says in the add the "parts" were sandblasted and primed. Looks like they were just painted. Just can't be sure.
I'm tempted to take the 4-1/2 hour driver up, but not without some communication from him.

Looks like an estate sale so doubt you will get much informed information, they probably honestly don't know.

INSPECTION REPORT!!!
Wow... So, yesterday I left here early, picked up a uHaul auto hauler, and headed north. I arrived about 1PM and met with the owner, and inspected the vehicle. Mind you, we already agreed on an offer over the phone. It was considerably less than the asking $2.2k.
First, the story. A guy had this on his farm for many years. He decided to make a "parade jeep" out of it. He tore it apart, sandblasted and finished the suspension and all small parts and had the engine rebuilt. Before starting on the body, he died. His son gave all this information to the guy who bought it. The new owner is the one that listed it.
The suspension parts, in my opinion, were not sandblasted. They were painted directly over the old paint and pitted rust, with a heavy coat of a green paint, roughly the same as the correct color for the truck. I identified most of the parts, located outside. Some of the small parts were in the battery tray top with water in it. Some were in his garage. All were scattered. The underbody kit appears to be heavily painted over rust, but complete.
The "Rebuilt" engine may or may not have been rebuilt. It turns, but has the same heavy paint on it. The rubber shift linkage boot was not removed. The paint was on the gasket surfaces of the manifolds. My guess is that is was just cleaned and painted.
Then I turned to the body. The top side, as Rick mentioned looked good, repairable, and straight. The rear panel, never shown in the pictures, was completely rusted away at the bottom 6 inches. Rick was spot on about the underbody kit telling the story. As you can see in the pictures in the ad, the front cross member appears missing. Well, it was gone. All the underside parts were compromised, including the two main frame rails.
I told him that there may be some usable parts on the body, but the condition of the two main frame rails made this body scrap. Due to the overall condition, I did not even offer him an adjusted price. I just passed on the deal all together. Got back in the truck, and drove 4-1/2 hours back home.

And THAT fiends, is why you always ask for pictures of the underneath before driving 4 1/2 hours! So basically he has about a grand in parts assuming the engine and transmission are not full of water from condensation?

Pics are great but a visit is better.
Nothing beats an eyeball view of what you are going to buy.
Too bad fir the long drive but in the end its worth it
Maybe you will save someone else from getting taken in.
