CL Bodies/Parts (Not Mine) in Va

Unread post by Surveyor » May 1st, 2017, 10:48 pm

Looks like 3 just went up on CL from the same owner. Price range is $450 to $650. Looks like two USMC ones and an early one...

https://danville.craigslist.org/cto/6109474054.html - Early but not much left to it. Two cowl vents. I did notice that the air filter brackets have the same type of setup as mine with the nut welded on top so looks like that may have been standard on the early ones.

Plus in Bama...

Two power paks... Not sure if it's $200 for both or each... one looks fairly complete. Nothing about if they turn free, shifter, plugs not in place so cyls and trans open to elements.

The engines are worth it but the bodies are not even worth the money it would cost to take them to the scrap yard. I would be nice the get the tag numbers off of them for Kens database though.

It's interesting to note that the first one in that add is an M151A2. The second unit is an M151A1 and the last one is a plain M151. Danville is about 3 to 4 hours south of me & it's a haul to get down there. They used to have a pretty cool tank museum down there but I think that's gone now. Wonder what the underside of the A1 & A2 look like?

The first one is an A1 with A2 fenders grafted on.

Oh yeah I see that (now). I noticed the A1 steering wheel & windshield frame. Wonder if it's an A2 front end welded up to an A1 rear?

That would be an A2 steering setup and windshield. If you look at the one pic of the left side you can see across the motor and see the rusty weld on top of the fender. It also has an A2 grill. It looks like it does not have the bosses for a voltage regulator like an A2 but I think I see a Budd tag. Hard to tell without seeing underneath. No matter what the overall condition is scrap.

It's not that they think they can get money for them, it is how much money they think they can get. Yea, you might be able to sell them for 500 each for the diffs and axles and such but then the buyer has to dispose of the rest. I am not into hauling the residue to the scrapyard. not enough there to make it worth it.

Just think what we could do with a new body, we can buy a new body for the other jeeps but not ours. :(
