Re: Pair of A-1s on Austin CL
I looked all through your album and the white one is definitely the better of the two. The green one was actually a recoiless rifle carrier and might just still have the extra helper springs inside the regular springs in the rear. As I am sure you are aware these do not have a frame as you mentioned earlier. The unibody is a all in one construction. I think you have the makings of a good restoration there. Browse the site and you will fin Guy from CMD manufacturing, he is making a lot of panels you will need with new ones coming on line all the time.

Thank you for the welcome! I didn't get any pictures underneath before I had to leave town for business, but I will get some posted when I get back.

Thanks you for the welcome - I have to say you are right. I would have never guessed I would be buying a jeep (or MUTT) not made by Jeep! BUT, when I started researching them when this CL ad came out I kinda got caught up in them. Especially for the priceHambone wrote:Welcome Machflite, BEWARE, there's no cure for the OD Green disease.

Welcome to the addiction indeed! Thanks for the info! I know it seems like it sits higher in the rear and lower in the front than the '66. I will have to check out the coils on that one when I get back. Maybe I can talk my wife into crawling under there and taking some pics... Maybe not...rickf wrote:I looked all through your album and the white one is definitely the better of the two. That would NOT be a good idea or you will come home to no vehicles and a scrap receipt.

If you can't find parts you need from members, Red River Parts and Rapco are both in Texas. Blake @ Red River has always treated me fair, looking forward to the build. One of our members(lpcoating) has some great panels. m151bodypanels.com Hambone

You got to be careful, we scope out everything in a picture. Especially garages, we love garages.
