Barstow M151A2 For Sale - Raleigh NC

Unread post by mrdibbles » November 29th, 2014, 4:12 pm

Hey Guys-
I wanted to post here that the Barstow will be going up for sale. Full paperwork, including copies (front/back) of it's SF-97, it has a current North Carolina title, and documentation traces ownership all the way back to when it was released from the military. The motor was rebuilt professionally in Austin by one of the best builders in central TX, the transmission was NOS, and both have 1,764 mi. on them. The paint is original (complete with outlines for camouflage that was never applied), it has it's original hood numbers and USMC bumperette markings, and includes the front bumper showing long term storage stenciling (bumper and grille were removed but convey). This Mutt is easily THE BEST one I've ever had. It's ready to drive anywhere, It's uncut, and it's 100% rust free. A USMC M151A2 deserves one short foray onto a beach (yes it was meticulously rinsed/washed afterwards!!!). I think I have a reputation for detail and this Mutt shows it. Please PM me if you have interest or questions. $24,000
Thank you,
Matt-

So your finally getting out of MV's huh? I was hoping to meet you at Aberdeen or the Virginia Rally. To anyone looking at this vehicle and questioning the price I will tell you it is worth every cent. Somewhere way back in the archives is the build of this vehicle on here and it is done right. It was immaculate to begin with and then it was made better.

Thanks for the complements guys AND for the years of support this forum has provided. I'm active on other forums and I always use this one as the baseline for how help should be rendered. Sadly help and feedback doesn't usually meet up to my standards (on other forums)... the 838 spoiled me! Tear down of the 1964 Buick began last week

It's a very nice M151A2. I owned it from April 2003 to about 2010. Put about 3450 miles on it during the time I had it. It had 48.5 miles on it when I purchased it from Zecon in Augusta.

She's been cleaned up a bit from when I had her. Not sure why the engine and transmission was rebuilt as the engine in it was the original one and ran perfect when I sold it. it would crank up on the 2nd turn even when it was freezing cold.

Jason,

I'm pretty sure that powerpack is in my 66 that I bought from your neighbor down there. At least that's the story I got with the deal.

Hi Fil-
Thanks for the offer! That's very nice of you. I have a box full of them. I prefer the ones that are on the vehicle :)

From what I see it probably not that new.
There are no emissions parts shown.
By then the last wiring harnesses were secured with plastic ties not spring clips.
So unless these items were changed during its life I would guess itis an early
A2 Am General around 1973.
Still a great unit.

Hi Fil,
I suppose the year could be earlier than 1979 but I've always referred to this vehicle's government form SF-97. That form shows the vehicle number and year (as a 1979).
Thanks

Matt,
This is why I was asking. Mine is a 78 and I was wondering if our numbers were close. I don't want to highjack your thread.
