That appears to be a straight 151 front welded to an A1 rear, No turn signal bosses on the fenders that I can see and no turn signal or wiring inside. The rear has the third brake light though.

I think you're wrong Rick! I can't believe I just typed that. First, look how well the torch cut is on the floor. Both sides look pretty much the same. Now, take a close look at the black out light on the rear. What do you notice? Looks like the hole was torch cut and another sign is that the stiffener rib runs into the hole. If it was an A1 rear, it would be a shorter rib and a flanged hole. Until someone tells me I'm wrong I'm going to sit back and enjoy my first personal victory on 151 knowledge... :D

Yes, that hole in the rear was cut in...and the torch cut does match.
Thanks for the clarification...I'm a HMMWV guy, sold my mutt many moons ago.

For my research, any possibility you can take a photo of the dash dataplate (if it's still there)? And did you find the body-tag?
just wondering.....

OK Guy, I will give you this one. I wasn't looking for a torch cut hole. As far as the cleanliness of the cut, I have seen that before. Of coarse on the same vehicle I found that the transmission mounts had been moved back on the crossmember and the front driveshaft had been shortened. It was the shaft that was the give away, he was trying to put in a new shaft and it was a solid inch to long. I could see it was a cut and weld so I did some measuring compared to mine and it was a full inch and a half shorter! They cleaned up the weld by overlapping it a hair and cutting it with a cutoff wheel. Perfect cut to weld. Other than being too short it was square, they knew full well what they were doing and it drive just fine. He had a hell of a time getting the new shaft made because of the built in phase correction. The shop just did not believe that was right, His original shaft that was in it when he got it had been shortened but done in standard phase and vibrated badly. That was what started the whole can of worms.

Thank you for posting the photos. From the tag, it looks like the body is an early one from Willys-Kaiser's second military contract for the M151-series. Nice to see a tag in such good condition, too !
