There is no problem getting a tag, title and registration in Ga for M151s, I've transferred titles and also registered them under just a bill of sale. I'm not sure why you are told that you can't register it. Just register it as a truck, utility 1/4 ton.

BTW, I live in Brookhaven, about 20 mins from you.

Can you help me do that? I will pay you.

I was there Wed: they say VIN can't be found. Encore body kit: must go thru Salvage inspection process.

I have IL title, original. But list it as trailer. Original FL listed a Jeep ASSMBL

now I am stuck,

I will pay you to help me get the Jeep registered.

That tag that Vin is talking about is right in your pictures. It has the 1998 manufacture date and VIN number. That is what you need to present to motor vehicle. The VIN is in standard 17 digit format that they will understand and may even be in their database.

If the other title says it is a trailer, just take the BOS to the DMV, and you should get it through. Once you have the GA registration, you can transfer that to other states.

Sorry Moderator,

I started the posting as for sale post. It turned out i needed help with the Jeep.

but, yes, it is still for sale.

but since fellow members have tried to help. Let me ask one more question.

When I take the BOS to DMV, what is the model and make of the m151 should I list it? I see a six digit serial number on the engine block, can I use it? Does it matter which number?

thank you,

vinny

It was originally sold in Clearwater, Florida as:

Make: ENCR
Body Type: 2D (It also has a note "Brands: FL-KIT CAR")
VIN: 1P9UB44BXWC304030

Make no mention of M151A2, or it being a military Vehicle. It is neither.

On another note, your eBay title is "1998 Jeep Jeep MUTT M151A2 A1 Vietnam War Military Truck" That is misleading. The parts and suspension are, as you state, M151A2, but the body (not just the front fenders) is Encore. There are many differences. I only remember seeing M151A1s in Vietnam. I think you will have a great deal of difficulty finding a buyer for it at that price, without obtaining a clear title. All this is just my opinion, and we all know what that's worth!

Also, Austringer mentioned in a previous post to you, that he lives 20 minutes from you. He knows more about GA registrations for M151 vehicles than I ever will. You should PM him. I bet he could tell you more or better information.

I think your best bet is to use the 17 digit Vin# that is riveted to the firewall. That is a standard Vin number and would make it a legal vehicle. If you try to go the other routes you would probably be best to remove that Vin plate since you would be titling it as something that it is not. Be aware that anyone who knows M-151's will know right away that this is not a real M-151. Vin, If I remember correctly didn't you work for Encore?

Hell no!! I worked for Uncle Sugar. I bought my Encore in 2013 in La Bel Florida. It had a FL title and was just like any vehicle here. I still have it, and the A2 I restored this past year. I just picked up a Saudi A2 that I've started the renovation on, and am picking up an A1 and an A2 on 5 Nov. I can't count the rust bucket A2 I got from Mr Recovery, since I cut it in half, so I'm now at 5. Does that make me Motor Sergeant, or hoarder?

I priced the vehicle on Ebay high. Very high indeed because I don't want to sell it just yet. If the price can reach that high I would. Otherwise I just hold on to it a little longer while I still look for ways to register it to drive. It was never my intention to sell it.
I just got it last Monday but I've made many trips to Tag office already, i looked very gloomy

I don't want to lose the Jeep just yet because of its splendid condition.

But I DID mention Encore body in my listing, it is not something that I can get away with nor I wanted, too.
.

But member Austringer gave me his number to call him tonight. He offered to help me.

Thanks, Gentlemen.
