Wow. I've had a copy for at least fifteen years now and never thought it might be worth something more than a good source of reference photos. The text certainly hasn't been much of a help!

I got one of these books several months ago, I used the Google translate on my phone to translate, it works...but....
One of the issues with translating is the syntax, the other is we have a lot more descriptive words and there are also special technical words that don't translate well.
That being said, it worked much better than my ability to read Japanese.

Don't forget, in Kanji a character is a word. Modifying the character will give you another word, like a tree becomes a forest.
