Takes me about 8 hours to get there as long as something does not go wrong. 18 hours one year with multiple trailer wheel failures! Here is a link to the information for your consideration.

Just to jump in here on those brass fittings........ and I realize the elbow with the locknut is not the correct one for the location.... but..... I have a source for the top vent fitting, and that brass elbow with the lock nut. New production, if anyone needs those, let me know.

You have a supplier for the vent on top of the carb with the venturi tube down through it?

Good to know. I had seen some in the past where the guy said they were identical but they did not have the venturi tube. He said "It is not needed". Maybe not but it was put there for a reason and I don't believe for one second that it was done just for the hell of it. It would be much easier and cheaper to leave that part out if it was not needed just as he did.

Vin,

I'm looking for the 30 degree fuel inlet elbow found on the A2 carbs. Is this 30 degree elbow one of the parts you have access to? If so, I'm interested.

Let me know.

Thanks, Cal

OK, back to the original subject at hand - I am going to get the carb serviced since I found a lot of fine sediment/dirt in the tank (don't know how old the carb is, it is aftermarket) and seal the gas tank. The tank looks pretty good after the vinegar treatment, a lot of rust was on the top (interior). I'm not sure how bad the baffle side is, but I will use the phosphoric acid treatment to etch the tank before the POR tank sealant goes on. The fuel drain plug is frozen on there and I'll try to get it loose with some heat.

What I may do if I can't find the proper fitting is salvage the hose fitting that is on now, use the new hose and add a see through fuel filter as discussed before. I will look for the parts at the Aberdeen East Coast rally that is coming up. I've got a full schedule ahead of me in the next few weeks and once I get some down time I'll Git R done! Thanks to all for some great advice, tips, and tricks both on this post and offline discussions.

Be careful using heat on that drain plug because the fitting for the plug is riveted and then soldered in, you don't want to melt the solder out of there.

Thanks Rick, I will use a little heat and if it's still a no-go I may try to drill it out or simply leave it alone.

Thanks to bazookajoe for rebuilding my carb and spare, it's now installed and that will make a real difference. I sealed the gas tank with POR15 and installed it - I used white distilled vinegar to eat away the rust. I noticed that a vent line adapter is missing from the manifold to a vent line see below diagrams and the -20P and 34P nomenclature. Since the engine wasn't running smoothly, to begin with, I'd like to put in the adapter before I fire it up. There was a plug at the manifold and the vent line was just left hanging without a cover. I've tried to look for this item on-line and can't seem to locate a civilian equivalent of what appears to be 1/8 in. MIP (manifold side) x 1/4 in (?). FIP (vent side). I found a 1/8" MIP x1/4" and the 1/4" side is too big for the vent line fitting, so I used a 1/4" brass pipe nipple from the incorrect vacuum fitting for wipers by drilling it out enough so that I could shove the vent line into it. Any assistance in locating the part or correct dimensions would be highly appreciated.

Cheers!
Steve

The male portion going into the manifold looks larger than the 1/8 fitting I found.
