Windshield Hood Bumpers

Unread post by JeepMagician » October 10th, 2016, 9:32 am

Guys, you've been great and I am getting so close to being done with this Willys M151.

The last parts that right now I know I need to located is the Hood bumper/stops that mount to the windshield. I only have one and has a cloth deal riveted to it. I am not needed perfect examples but some I can restore to complete the project.

Just give me a price or info and it will be thankful for!

Hammer, anvil and flat stock. Add in a beer and some time and bingo, a lot cheaper than 70 bucks!!! The webbing is available online, I have seen it somewhere. I am pretty sure it is the same as the stuff around the grill. Check with Dave Pizzoferatto.

LOL.... In that case, I have no idea what the old style is. All my MUTTS have rubber bumpers. The newer ones are round with a screw to attach. The one for the 64 Kaiser 151 uses a bumper that looks like the brake pedal stops/bumpers. They get pushed into a square hole. I thunked that was the old style.

Yeah, I as hoping some one had them laying around. I really only need one but tis be no longer important. Someone, because they are all knowing has decided the project is finished without really asking the guy who is working on it and called the owner to come get it. So I guess being the dummy I am it must be done and I am not to worry about such trivial things.

Vin, I have an early windshield in my storage that I think still has them on it, I get to it before the weekend and take a few photos.

Do I hear a bit of animosity there? Hey, it is not your fault, did you point out that it is in fact NOT done?

I've typed several responses. All were hateful and just complaining so I deleted them. I guess when something you enjoy is ruined your attitude goes with it.

You guys have been quite helpful and display what I would expect out of a Forum. But I do believe my involvement in this area will be shortly coming to an end. Time to start refueling aircraft again.

That's a tough nut, but now that you are into it, why not grab one for yourself. If you enjoyed working on one of these, you will love driving one. I have never owned a vehicle which has gotten as much attention as one of my (now 4) M151s. They are a blast. Pick one up and make it yours!!!

And the guy who was collecting the money for your hard and very exacting work will certainly be hard pressed to find that kind of quality work from anyone else. Bye-bye income!

The M151 never were my favorite, Although they are quite if not easily the most comfortable of the Jeeps I've played with and so they rank up there quite high (right behind the M38a1, WC63, M35a2, M274,). However I am in love with the M38a1s as it was my first real military vehicle I ever worked and drove. Regardless I bought a house for my 28th birthday (29 now) and so all and any play funds go to it. Being an Adult was a lie.

Oh no, No, NO!

At 29, you're just a young adult.

Remember, the bank makes sure you're darned near broke in order to buy a house (which always lead me to question why they were so concerned about my finances in the first place) but, you'll recover from that.

Buy the toys, when and if you can, even if they only sit in the garage and gather dust... and when you're of an age when the kids are off doing their thing you'll already have the toys you love to do your thing..

Get yourself a project, man. It's good for the soul.

Ashes to ashes.
Dust to dust.
If you don't save it.
It's going to rust.
