1967 M151A1 Fuel pump rebuild kit

I've been looking for a rebuild kit for the AC fuel pump on a 67 Ford M151A1 for months - it would seem they no longer exist. Does anyone have a reliable source for an ethanol proof rebuild kit for the A1s? I have a lead from Cowboy John's auto parts in Webster Florida for a new ethanol proof kit. John supplies a lot of this kind of thing to the antique collector car market. I sent him detailed data and photos for the pump. He says he has the correct kit for $50 plus shipping. Has anyone tried one of these? If not, I'll let you know how it turns out in a week or so.

To the best of my knowledge their is no kit so if it works out be sure to let us know. Ethanol in gas is blamed for every bad fuel pump since they started putting it in gas but under NORMAL circumstances ethanol up to 15% will not harm older components. This has been tested several times by collector car insurance companies. Now, if you let the car sit for months and the gas separates, Phase separation it is called, then you can get pure alcohol and that will ruin the pump along with anything else rubber in the system including lines.

I just noticed the fact that you are looking for a rebuild for a 67 A1 pump. Are you running the A2 mechanical pump or the A1 electric pump?

The mutt came with a mechanical fuel pump. I'm new to these but I thought this was a correct pump for the A1. It does not look like the pumps I see on the A2's.
The bottom of the pump looks similar but the top has a round flat plate cover that I initially thought was a vacuum chamber. It's an AC pump - has number 11599015 on top cover and number 5621459 cast into base below the AC logo. Is this an A2 pump? I'm not sure how to post a picture

I am not sure on the numbers, I will have to look them up but the description of the flat plate on top is the description of a vacuum pump. Is this actually hooked up to the fuel lines? The A1 has a vacuum pump in that location with vacuum lines running back to the firewall for the wipers. The A1 in stock form has an electric pump in the tank and the fuel line runs out on the drivers side of the transmission tunnel and through the firewall and right out to the carb. A lot of people will convert to the A2 mechanical pump and reroute the line around the back of the engine and over to the pump. Then from the pump up the front of the engine to the carb.

Ok, I looked up the numbers, 11599015 is a vacuum pump. Your fuel pump is the electric one in the tank.

Ok. Now we're getting somewhere. This has obviously been changed to mechanical at some point. I need to dig my manuals out of storage and see if I can get the electric pump going again. The gas tank needs to be cleaned so that's an opportunity to redo the electric - hopefully they are still available.

Where does your fuel line run? It doesn't run to the vacuum pump does it? To post pictures you have to upload them to an online photo host, I use Photobucket since it is free. Then you download from there. Or you can e-mail them to me and I will put them up here for you.

I went to a mechanical fuel pump on my M151 & M151A1. Got tired of the electrical ones wither OEM or after market. Seems the electrical systems causes more problems then I care for and the cost which = ouch on the pocket book. I found a mechanical fuel pump that works on the MUTT Engines. The part # is M16124 by Precision at O'Reilly's. If you have an A2 the plumbing requires little or no modification. However if you have a M151/A1 then a modification of the plumbing system will be required. One will have to get rid of E-System in the tank and make a pickup tube about an 1/2 inch off the bottom of the tank with an angle cut on the tube. Then from the fire wall I routed 5/16ths steel/copper tubing along the cowling along the right side of engine to the M-fuel system. The from the M-pump you will need to route to the carburetor. Note: If you have or suspect that you have a dirty fuel tank might want to add a filter before the M-pump and most defiantly add a filter after the M-pump to the Carburetor. You will need the following tools if you don't have.
Tubing double flaring tool
Tubing cutters, Small and large
Tubing bender
Materials needed:
5/16ths tubing, steel or copper about 8 feet in case you make a miss take.
Ferrell's
Anchoring straps
Screws or rivets
Note: With the M151/A1's you will have to connect the vacuum system for your distributor and vacuum wipers that give you the best results. This took trial and error for me.
