ie, the original M-151 body parts supplier first known as Macks Militaria and then Fla, Tactical. They made some really nice body parts until they canned (or he quit, I have heard several versions of the story) the original metal man making the parts for them. They hired a new guy who had a "Better" idea and he threw out the cad files that he thought were the prototypes. Nope, they were the originals. Since Ed Mackenzie had sold the NOS body used to measure the body panels they no longer had that to work from and what they started selling after that point was total garbage. You can see some of it way back in one of my restoration threads. But he did have the door channels at one time and I have one of them on mine, it works great. I have another around somewhere, I need to find it. Guy, I am sure if they could make them you can.

By the way, the husband and wife and father team that made up the original business broke up and I am pretty sure Sheri is running the place on her own now as a surplus store. That was the last thing I knew several years ago. I am sure Mr. Recovery will chime in here somewhere since he worked for them back in the day.

I took the windshield channels off this morning off a A1 frame. Took me 4 minutes to drill spot welds on one channel. Had both of them off in less than 15 minutes. If someone has a tub and thinking it is a time consuming job it isn't. I used a DeWalt center point drill bit. If you don't have one of these ,run to buy one if you cut spot welds. Been using one of these for years. Ken is right on money on the channel , it is bent inside itself so no HF tools will reproduce this. My friend who gave me this frame has about 6 more, I'm going back down today to work on his A2 so I'll see if he will let me rob more channel from those and just splice them together for the bottoms. I 'm thinking 3 channels will do the bottoms. I think 2 full lengths and one cut in half will be enough to do both sides. I'll measure today when I get there. With all the A1's that the windshields were replaced with A2 windshields there should be plenty of frames to take the channels off of. Jerry

Be a shame to cut up good windshields just to get those channels!

Got another one from him. Cutting them off also. It's a split window frame. Found out today the top and bottom are the same length. I'm good on the channels. He gave me another cushion and 2 NOS door skins. I have got everything I had listed. Thanks to all Jerry

The split frames are A1 and straight and are getting harder to come by. If cutting spot welds off of them at least use a spot weld cutter so you do not drill holes in the windshields. Someone could use those windshields. It would REALLY be a shame if any of them were the rare early four hole defroster straight 151 ones!!!

If you cut up a split one already, I'd be interested in good set of the center divider parts on it. Someone made mine a single pane at some point and I'd like to convert it back to the original two pane style.

Rick I know where your thoughts are but I'd rather have a 151 I can put doors on in the winter, no one reproduces the channel so what do you do ? I looked at it this morning and it is a 4 hole defroster frame. Top channel someone had cut off so it won't bother me too much to cut the door channels off. Surveyor Pm me on the center divider it is in good shape. Jerry

Want to say Thanks to everyone for the input on the door retainers. I got busy on the 151 and forgot . Jerry

Looks like everyone got what they need, except the one who started this thread, ME!!!

If anyone has a lead on the channels, let me know. I have two vehicles I need them for, so four pieces.

I have two new channels but they are for my Alley Cat. Isn't Guy making them? They seem pretty simple to me!

Guy is not making them yet..... One issue with them is that the open edge is actually rolled back on itself, making it less likely to rip the fabric. Guy did say he would take another look at them.

I would always defer to Guy on these matters but it seems to me that all that would be necessary would be to lay a bead (for the channel) trim the piece and put it in a metal brake and then cant the bead back a few degrees. Somebody figured this out twice already. Once, for the originals and the second time, when they made mine. I suspect the issue for Guy is how to accomplish it with that big machine of his (I saw it on Youtube and it's a doozy!)

I will have to look but I don't think any of mine are folded back on themselves. They are folded back a bit like a flare and then hammered into a dull surface. I know there was a guy who made a set years ago from sectioned tubing and welded that to flat stock. It looked perfect.
