If it is actually 00.0 then the coils are bad but I don't believe it because at a higher scale you get a reading. Not one that makes sense because it comes out to 24 ohms if it is on the 2K scale. The odds of two coils having a number never seen is pretty slim. I suggest you take the coils to someone with a different, better meter. And while 11.5 is the reading you want to see you do not want to see it on a 200K scale. I think your meter has seen better days. Could just need new batteries but I doubt it. You can get decent autoranging meters for less than 50.00. They are a good thing to have around for many uses.

Friend checked with a different meter. Same thing, 0 ohms between two small terminals. DOA out of the box ? Now to request a return. Good luck on that one. Checked module with a light. The light blinks when cranked over.

Most of the bigger vendors are aware of the Chinese coils issue and should not give you a hassle. It would be nice if they checked them first themselves. This coil did not come from Red River did it?

No ,it didn't come from there. I did a bench test on it with direct wire to positive with plug and ground . Ground wire got hot fast. Direct short in coil. China JUNK as you have said.

Well, It depends on how long it took to get hot. Any coil is a direct short, it is a continuously wound coil of wire from the positive to the negative terminal. The resistance value comes from the distance the electricity has to travel from one end to the other. 6 ohms is very little resistance. That is why you can burn up a coil by leaving the ignition on. A proper test would have been to hook up the hot wire to the plus side of the coil rig a plug wire to stay in the center terminal and attach a wire to the negative terminal. Now place the plug wire close to the ground cable (assuming you are using jumpers from a battery) and tap the wire from the negative side of the coil against the ground cable. Hold it on the cable for no more than a half second and as you pull it away you should get a spark from the plug wire.

That is a proper test. I am thinking in this case due to the ohms test that it will not work. If the wire heated up in seconds then yes, there is a direct sort in there. BUT, That is not a test you want to do on a good coil, just tap the wires.

that is exactly the way I did the test, per one of your early post in a search. I was just tapping the wire to try to get the plug to spark, Searched Red River is it in Clarkesville TN. or TX?. Do you have a phone # for Blake.
