Hi I think it is a 12484 Zenith Bendix, and the old one was bent when I eventually got it out someone had tried to force it when it was jammed.

You might want to make sure the metered hole in the carb body is not enlarged. I will bet someone jammed it in too far and if that is the case then that carb is no good. You will never get it to have a stable idle. If you feel inside of the throttle bore where that needle would come through it should be perfectly flush with the bore. If the hole has a ridge around it pushed out then it has been forced and you have problems.

Thanks Rick I have checked the hole and it is OK so not been pushed through, not sure how someone managed to bend it.

Probably dropped the carb or stepped on it when the engine was out. I have a ton of the late model screws but only a couple of the early ones and I need to hold onto them for my rebuilds.
