I'll have to look at mine but it looks about the same. You ever try to rip a piece pf sheet metal off a body? It is a lot stronger than you think. If you need something that strong then you have other issue you are going to have to worry about. The CJ's used the solid piece. well, it was round and hollow.

Get the NOS handle. They're strong, yet forgiving, which is important if you go crashing against it...and they're coated in rubber.
