M151 EARLY ORIGINAL style HEATER -WANTED!

Unread post by tankerm60 » December 28th, 2007, 11:52 am

Hello Ya'all,

I am looking for an ORIGINAL hotwater HEATER KIT. For the EARLY strait M151.

These are Different from the Type currently seen mounted on A1's & A'2's. The Blower motor sits Verticle rather than Horizontal. The DIVERTER Box has a Mechanical/ Manual control Lever on it. I Need the Motor(WORKING) and Diverter box mainly.

Still Looking for an original Early Spare Wheel retainer as well.

Tanks Alot!

Happy New Years to All and to OUR TROOPS ! Dave-TankerM60

This is a scanned pic from Ken's site. This was a 3 piece unit. 1 was a stamped disk. The other 2 pieces were a stamped metal piece in the shape of a T. Attached to this was the reflector.

Mr. R, Are you talking about Toptiger? If so he is from Fla. and France. Also he is pretty much on this G any more after some bad feelings on the other one. You may not be thinking of the same person as I though.

M151 Heater

Unread post by tankerm60 » January 3rd, 2008, 1:57 pm

Tanks Alot for the SitRep Dan. Asd well as the PIC !!

I liked Your other photos as well. The Good ol days! My prefered of the two m60's, was the Straight M60. Like the M48, I liked the Steering wheel better that that T bar.

You VTR 88 guys sved our Butts many times!! Having that GAS Burner!!! Back up to our tracks, open the rear doors, take the heat shield off. And add that heat to the ol V12 !

Loved the color of the Classic OD semi gloss, hated the camo except the TAN Fall scheme, more to my AO. Stationed at AYERS Kasserne-The ROCK. To many Grafs, Hoenfells, Wildflickens, Vilseks and Border Dutys!!! Loved the Flippies though, best part of being in the field!

I sent TOP an email per the Heater info.

Now a Zoomy!! I spent a few trips in C-130s-awsome Bird!!

Tanks Alot Dan,

Dave-TankerM60

I was there from 1961 to 1964, the groop of guys I ran with used to hang out in Munchberg on our off duty time.
Ya, us maintance guys were well liked, we keep everyones heaters running, especialy the cooks, and they keep us
in hot coffee and extra rations  . This should bring back the good old times  Dan.

Time at the "Rock"

Unread post by tankerm60 » January 11th, 2008, 12:03 pm

Hi Dan,

Took me awhile to respond to your letter. I was (ShellShocked) over the pic with the A1 with a Thrown Track! Brought back to many Bad memorys!!! Loosing one to the "Outside" wasn't that bad! But to the Inside, it was PURE S--T relatively speaking. I had such a Bad Trip at Hoenfells. Popped our Left track to the iside while Fording a Four foot deep Mud Pond!! We had to DIVE IN, HOLD our breath and Loosen end conectore, center guides-You know the procedure! Thank God it was in the Summer! No Recovery team around.

Dan, I was stationed at the Rock from 1972-1975. During the Munic Olympic games and the Yom Kippor war. Another Scarry time for US Tankers, another story to add later. All I can say is-OUR Borders in Germany were wide open!

Heater

Unread post by bogoble » January 12th, 2008, 2:57 pm

If you need a motor for the early heater I guess you have figured out what we found in Korea 63-64, our new M151's heaters crapped out in the middle of winter and everything uncle sam gave me didn't keep me warm. Our capt had an aux setup on one of the finder wells in the rear to keep him nice and toasty from the hooch to the officers club. I guess RHIP. :( :( :(
