I Hit The Mother Load! or (1964 Kaiser Project)

Unread post by Rainman » March 31st, 2008, 12:26 am

Hey Guys,

Made the trip 2 hours south to hook up with Ed Johnson and Ohiomutt Vinnie
for a parts run. Connected up with Ed to pick up a cherry early gas tank I
won on ebay. Looks like a stainless steel sink inside, just perfect! Next stop,
was to see Ohiomutt. As I pulled up he was twisting a golden screwdriver on
a very nice A2 that he plans to put into a M151 museum. How cool is that? I
followed him from a storage area to a warehouse, and back home again
looking for items on my parts list, like we were on a scavenger hunt. We
even took a side trip to a local American Legion, to shoot a few pictures of
this old tank Vinnie knew about. I saw so many cool things, I want an A2 to
restore, just knowing that Ohiomutt has everything I could possibly need to
accomplish the mission. Vinnie spent the entire afternoon helping me gather
battery cables and solid state flasher units. Some things we never found,
though he swears its around somewhere, and I believer him! Moose, if there
is anything you need in sirens, he's your connection. I recommend Ohiomutt
parts for any MV buff or restorer. I plan to make another trip down to visit,
even if I don't need 151 parts. I took a few pictures there at I will feature in
other posts in the "MODS" section. A day I could re-live in a Groundhogs day
movie. Thanks to Ed and Vinnie for a great time!

Hey vtdeucedriver,

I really tried to post this last night, and I deleted it before it was posted. Not too many pics.
Here's what I have of a parts pile and of ohiomutt that are on my camera.

Image Image

I know I should have take more, but here's a project jeep that's a candidate for restoration.
Little rust, very complete, and good tires. What more could you want for a project?

The other pictures of this jeep will go into a post on the MODS section. Some thins on this
jeep I've never seen or heard of before. More on that later...

VT-

I have my inventory stored in various places in southeast ohio area (ie: family farms, warehouses, and storage units). The plastic bags are well what you call them, plastic in plastic bags(not mine). My neighbor owns a warehouse that I use "kinda like a m151 half-way houses" Items either go to the farm from there or its a staging area for items getting ready to relocate on ebay :D

I'll be heading out to the farm this weekend to pull parts, I'll take a few pictures of the MUTT barn (yes, a barn full of uncut M151 Jeeps...bumper to bumper) and its surrounding 3 acres of parts. At the farm you'll see crushed (as rainmans photo above), cut in half, and quartered M151's mostly A2's. I got all of my M151 parts from my uncle who demilled them in the 90's. He and his friends purchased over 3,000 M151's from all over the country and brought them back here to appalachia. My uncle sold very few M151 parts when he was living so that kinda tells you the type of inventory I have. Photos to be posted soon.........
