My BABY!

Unread post by m3a1 » September 14th, 2016, 6:12 pm

Here's my baby chambered in .308 on the thousand yard range.
Image
The range's owner was so excited he told me to mow everything down on the 200 yard line....targets, supports, backers, the works. :D :D :D
Then he took a turn.
Then I realized he and I had burned through $400 worth of ammo!

By the way, don't bother buying the cheaper reproduction T&Es if you plan to shoot with 'em. They look good, but they're junk and won't hold a zero.

And YES, we're gonna shoot this off the A2. Woo HOO!

M3,

What range did you go to? My brother just assembled a .308 1919A4 Semi-Auto from a parts kit and is looking for a range that doesn't freak out when they see this type of weapon. I live on the South end of Camp Bullis in San Antonio.

Hi, Cal. We're practically neighbors. I live in Boerne. The range is in Oklahoma.

I thought you could shoot damn near anything in Texas without people coming down on you. Have times changed for the worse that bad?

Rick,

I don't think the times here (Texas) have changed that much. Just don't want to attract too much attention the first time out. Most to the ranges around here won't let you shoot full autos anymore.

M3,

Do you ever take any of your vehicles to the "Soda Pops" car shows on Main St in Bourne?

Cal, I think there is one not this weekend but the following weekend. I'll have to check the schedule, but YES!...I may just trot it down there...or take the 6x6. Still much going on with my kid's brain surgery so we'll have to see how this plays out.

For those of you who are curious about Soda Pops -

As for shooting in Texas, most stuff around here is set up as "lane shooting" which is for people who don't move and shoot... and I'm not bragging, but shooting from a box isn't what I do or how I've been trained. Keeping those skills up requires a certain amount of elbow room and sometimes a range exclusive to two or three guys.
