War and Peace at Beltring 2017

Postby muttguru » July 31st, 2017, 4:31 pm

Here is the first batch of photos I took at the W&P show last week. The weather was cloudy and on Friday it started to rain.....fortunately the rain eased off and the ground didn't turn into a quagmire. The pictures give a good indication of how dark the sky was at times....but.....the show itself was just like turning the clock back ten years ! More to come tomorrow.... Meanwhile....enjoy !

We reckoned there were about 15 MUTTs on site. There was an A2 with a hard top and an unusual camo scheme which caught my eye.

Hi Folks.... here's your second dose of Beltring. Starting with the one and only George Ramselaar....his A2, the LPG conversion and his M416 trailer tent.
Later this week I'll post a photo of his Cushman scooter which made its first appearance at the show.
In the middle photos is a shot of some of the M35 REO trucks

A couple of photos of military Land Rovers along with other British vehicles....later this week I'll post a photo of a huge lineup of Ferrets (for those of you who like that vehicle).

The last couple of photos show a Russian version of the quad bike.....there was a lot of ex-Soviet vehicles at the show.

Oh....and those are WWII US Army rat-traps....for sale. It's hard to believe where these things have been hiding for all these years (the traps....not the rats !)

Enjoy....

An M37 W/Winch at that. I just cannot picture George in that tent! In past shows I know there was a huge following of reenactments, I don't see that in your pictures this year. The encampments and truck driving events? Are they still going on? That was on thing that always seemed to set the European shows apart from the US shows.

I'm 6 ft tall and yet I feel like a hobbit when I'm next to George. This is his mutt he affectionately calls "Tricky Little Bastard 2"

And just to prove the first pic was not photo shopped

Mutt's may have more room in them but that still has to be a bit snug for George.

Yes, here we are again with more pics of War & Peace. The photos get a little darker as the sky went even more grey/gray. The show, relocated to its original site at the Hop Farm near Paddock Wood, was usually held at least one week earlier than this one..... That one week early could have made all the difference weather-wise.
More photos coming soon...

I imagine security would be tight, probably the people would sleep near their vehicles? Looks like a pretty good get-together.Thanks Ken for posting the pics.

Hope to see you next year. My amateur attempt at holding a M60

Heavy ain't it?  23 lbs. is a lot of weight to try to hold up and aim. And that is without ammo hanging from it.
