Because it will become my home away from home. I always have a room to stay in Paso, but I want a small kitchen and storage for my own stuff. I will convert the bus into a little RV. Good thing about a skoolie compared to a van is that you can stand inside. Really looking forward to work on this. It will become really nice I think. The fact that it drives is a plus. It has a 6.6l engine, but with only 153hp. As this is in California, it needs to pass smog so there is unfortunately not much I can do about it.

Nice! What color will she end up?

You need to take out those two doors on the side and make that area a slide out!

of course I would have loved keeping the original color and repaint it that way. Unfortunately this is not legal in California. I am not sure how much of the school bus yellow can be left, but there is the CHP right next door which I can ask sometime down the road...

And yes, the doors for the former wheel chair lift are somehow a pain in the butt. Good while start building it but bad afterwards. Still scratching my head how I can take advantage of them.

Well, please don't paint it like the Partridge Family bus (hippie digicam).

Are the side doors no longer weatherproof? It would seem to me refurbishing those door seals with new kit should be a snap. As many of these buses are still in service I would think coming up with new seals wouldn't be too hard.

Cheers,
TJ

I had to look Partridge Family up. No certainly not like this, looks like way too much work for me.

Doors work perfectly and seal. It is just so that the wheelchair door is not necessarily a plus later on building the bus. I have to think what do build there so that the door still has a function. Of course I could close and seal it permanently and just build against the inner walls whatever I want. But that it somehow not smart enough. I want to find a way to still use them, like external access to something (water tanks, propane or anything like that)

One thing to keep in mind is most campgrounds will not allow converted school buses in. Just a fact of life in the RV world. Just like they will not allow older RV's in a lot of campgrounds. It "lowers" their image!

That wheelchair lift will come in real handy when you need to get that 572 ci. crate motor from the store for the Goat.

What an engine, nice!

Still regretting that I went cheap and only got the 400ci, not the 454 when I had the option...

Well, since you went cheap you now have the money left over for the big boy.
Here you go, only 15 grand.

And if you are worried about the transmission................ Here is a combo, just bolt it in and fire it up. I know a guy with a Camaro with this combo, DAMN!!!!!!

And that crate engine even comes with a warranty!

yes, but the bus is in California: needs to get SMOGED. What an ugly word and process. I just had to retest my Samurai as it failed on the first test, barely made it through the second. 100$ down the drain in no time

I wasn't talking about putting that engine in the bus! You should have grabbed a diesel bus.
