My First Military Vehicle

Unread post by mrdibbles » November 29th, 2007, 10:43 pm

People always ask me... "What got you into Military Jeeps?" After all I never served in the Armed Forces so it's a valid question. The answer is I grew up on bases of one kind or another. My Dad was a Special Agent and a Foreign Diplomat so when we were over seas I was never far from an Embassy or a military installation of some sort. Anyway here are two pictures from 1973 in Manila Philippines. The first one is me wearing a German helmet from WWII and the other is me posing over a pumpkin that was flown in from Kansas (for Halloween). Good luck finding a Pumpkin in Manila :)

Hey Top-
It's been lost to time I guess :) My grandparents sent that pumpkin to us from Kansas so I think they had some "well wishes" on it. It grew in my grandma's garden so something was written there to that effect too I am guessing?

That looks like a fairly recent photo plus he layer of dust suggests that you still have that "vehicle". It is interesting. is it made from a collection of old motorcycle and lawn tractor parts?

The photo was taken two days ago. Yeah, it is made of an old CZ 175 motorcycle,

the rest is lawn tractor and junk parts. All home made. We still keep it. It has 12 gears and can pull a 1/2 ton vehicle.
