I like that color a lot! Getting ready to paint mine Desert Tan with black accents in about 3-4 weeks. Will post the process.

I hate tan! Keep in mind that tan did not come into service until the 90's. Hummers have been in service since the early eighties. You may see a picture of a mutt here and there from late eighties and early 90's but I can guarantee that they were for the most part out of service when tan came in. Then again, it is your vehicle to do with as you wish.

I'm also partial to OD although I'm painting my ferret tan. The next mutt I get I'm leaning towards USMC forrest green, thanks to a photo I saw of Cstaup's A1 painted in that color. I have seen images (on this site) of mutts in service painted tan but they were either OPFOR vehicles, relagated to a training facility (see the thread: "M151a1 colors") or they were in service with a foreign military for example: Saudi Arabia. As posted by others, "It's your vehicle do with it as you wish" -so long as you are happy with the results.

I live at the beach, plan to drive it on the beach, tan or desert sand is the color of the beach! Might even paint some dune grass on the side and call it "beach camo"

Also plan to rig the top bows to carry surfboards on top, and with the ROPS holes in the back quarter I can even put a couple of surf rods on the back!

But trust me when I am done, you will like it :!:

C'mon Clell, the beach in the Outer Banks is a lot closer to white than it is tan! Well if you take me cruising on the beach I guess I will let you slide.

They were tan at the NTC though Rick. I've posted pictures of them there as A1's and A2's. All in the good ol' glory of desert tan

It did happen... we can't sweep that under the rug :) Now... if it were me... I'd go OD all day long. I was half way there and stepped back from the edge. Military Jeeps and OD go together like Monty and Python.

M2
Thanks for posting those images. The second image down has a BTR152 in it that has been stripped yet sports an intact PKM GPMG. Was this BTR being used as a "bunker" or OP? Also noticed in the 4th image a late WW II Soviet T34 sitting in the backround.

The area you took those photos reminds me of where the Taliban (when they were in power) were trying to establish an armor school/AFV rebuild facility. They were in the prosess of dragging all the running/non running/derilict AFVs scattered across the Country side to that location when we arrived.
