Re: 'Nother shop "project"
You most likely know that the German Army actually used the Thing. We don't call it that way of course, it is the Kuebel (in tradition to the Kuebelwagen of WWII). The Army Kuebel had a different rear axle with substantial more ground clearance (portal type of axle like the Mog). With that rear axle the German Army Kuebel has this unique behaviour that the rear end will go upwards when accelerating.

Nice photo. Two questions for you, cstaup. Under the right rear tail light of the VW thing is that some sort of quasi "Africa Corps" palmtree insignia? Just curious. And for the second question what shade of OD is your mutt painted in? looks like it might be the USMC forrest green but not sure. It looks real good anyways.

SWEET 74!!!! A friend of mine in HS had 2 of them. What a great little car. For a 2 wheel drive vehicle, that THING would go anywhere!! Would like to have one some day. Really easy to work on.

Actually those are the roller rims and tires. I got a wild hair in me one day and did a "Dibbles". They looked real bad and i simply wanted to "clean" them up, all I had was flat black.

Hey Cstaup,
I really like the phrase you just coined "pulling a dibbles". In better WIKI definition, a 'dibbles' can be pulled with either pledge, paint or other aerosol propelled products used in an unconventional manner to enhance visual appearance .
Hey MrD, your life long reputation has now been permanently established in the English language. Much like Plato and 'platonic'. Plato lived his life celibate, and didn't have sex so much, they named not having sex after him. Okay, not exactly like Plato, but close enough for me!

Is the tie - in to Plato due to the pledge, or the apron he wears while using it?Rainman wrote:Hey Cstaup,
