Good shot, the waters a little too clean though. How far did you make the boy hump that pig?

Re: Afternoon Patrol
He only moved it about 10 feet. The ground was pretty rocky. You will notice he has m-16 bandoleers on i have on the belt of 60 ammo. Its fun we do this on a whim allot of times. This august my group of guys (25th) are going to do more photos. Thanks for the good feed back. i know were missing some stuff but my wallets only so thick.

Re: Afternoon Patrol
Matt, what you are doing is great, people need to remember. I would LOVE to come out and participate but I don't know if I could hump the pig as far as your son now a days. Is that a replica or real 60? I saw a real nice demilled 60 at Aberdeen, I don't remember the price but I think it was north of 2500.00!!!! As much as I want one I couldn't justify spending that much on a firing weapon let alone a demill. I never got into the reenactment thing because of the cost of getting all of the date matching equipment.

Re: Afternoon Patrol
$2500 is about what a parts kit costs, so Id imagines a dummy with real parts would be in that area. Transferables live guns are a shade south of $30k.rickf wrote:Matt, what you are doing is great, people need to remember. I was just thinking that, Good on you Matt for being there hanging out with him like that. Looks like you're a good father, he'll remember those days when you're long gone and he's an old man, I salute you!WC Matt wrote:Yeah that's right make the little guy hump the pig ! Re: Afternoon Patrol
I have a buddy that did the war game thing with his son. he would ambush me when I came by...the son... not the father
well guess what?
Today he is an SF operator in Afganistan and his dad doesn't get much sleep. Just sayin.....
My two boys are only 3 and 4.5 but I am not sure I want them following in my wartime footsteps. I can not imagine the horror of losing a kid in any fashion, but in a no win war, I think that would be too much especially one run like my war was by incompetent ..... better i stop here.....
This said, I would love to do the Afternoon Patrol thing with them when they are bigger. Already have a Randal Model 18, like mine for each of them.... and about 5 .45 autos {may be 6- forgot about that one I got from Mr Recovery a while back} and a .45 Browning and what? 15 Winchesters, 20? have to count them some day.

Re: Afternoon Patrol
Thanks guys. We do this every now and then. I too have 2 boys. I pray they dont follow in my foot steps. But i know they will. Maybe some of this stuff we do here will help them someday. I was tought when i went in by many of my NCO's that were Nam vets. The art of jungle war is being lost buy our soldiers today. Anyway. Logan there in the photos is really into Vietnam history.I apode him for that. He wants to keep your memories alive though they are some bad. But we have fun doing this and displays. Well im out its my birthday. 39. we are going to go look at a field of military vehicles hope to find something i need.
