British Army Land Rover Defender (110, I think). Bad place for a recruitment sign, no?

That's a Defender 90
It's a TUL(HS) - Truck Utility Light (Higher Specification) - otherwise known as a Defender XD 90, or Wolf 90. I have a Wolf 110 TUM(HS) which was written off in Iraq, I did a chassis up rebuild on it. Video here:

Yes, although me and it aren't on the best terms at the moment as I spent a fortune on the brakes this summer and still can't get all the air out - I am told it's a common problem, and I have tried everything!

A particularly cool video, shot by my squad leader with a AN/PVS14 Night vision monocular. Note the "talking" weapons, one, then the other, keeping the barrels cool, and the pressure on.

This is at the range in Udari, but this is how it was done for real. Can't really get out and film the real thing, it is a bit too busy and scary!

Also, there are M240B, M249 SAW in the mix, as well as Mk19 automatic grenade launchers - all of which were in a typical convoy. The M2s are firing 4 and 1 tracer, API (Armor Piercing Incendiary), which we used every convoy. Wouldn't want to be on the other end of this.

This is 4 guntrucks at the same time, just like a convoy may have, but typically it was just 3, with 2 M2s, and a Mk19, with SAWs amd 240B as backups mounted on all 3.

My truck sitting at a checkpoint while on a route security mission, 2005

Escorting a fueler convoy of Mogas. Why, yes. I did have one explode once. Thanks for asking. Well, really, just burn. The truck rolled, and the fuel glugged out on the highway like a gallon of milk dropped on the kitchen floor. But then was a river of fire into the ditch. I have never seen fire like that, and it turns out I was WAY closer than danger close that day. Chalk it up to dumb luck.Image

A very poigniant memorial to hundeds of British and Commonwealth troops killed in action there, it was built just after WWI. It is odd, such a testimony to valor, but now just a dust swept thing in the middle of the desert, no real road leading to it. A truly lost memorial. All those black slate parts list the names of the dead...a lot of them, unit by unit.

As a note, see the .50 cal link on the antenna? We used them to hold a chemlight for truck ID.

Same to you, Top!

I was in Korea for a short TDY in '88, don't know the language.

But I have a book I am pretty fluent with that is a universal translator.
