Hi Clell,

It is very hard to get a handle on how many mutts were left here simply because after the war the Vietnamese military round up all American military vehicles and locked them up. A few enterprising guys have been able to find ways to get access to some and a few started to appear on the market a few years ago. Now however the demand seems to have increased sharply judging by the number of mutts seen on the roads. Trouble is the cost has risen sharply too, if you want one refurbished Vietnamese style i.e. you don't know what is under the Gumbo and paint. it will cost you around $12000 to find out.

Parts are still plentiful even Willy's parts although a lot of them are used. Now a lot of the body parts are being made locally with others being imported from Taiwan or Korea. What is sad is that there is a whole lot of NOS parts that are badly stored and are starting to corrode and rust up even in their original packaging. What I would give to be able to find out where to source the Jeeps and buy up the spares but here they will tell you nothing about where they get anything, its called protecting their interest. They would rather hire someone to go to the place where you can get the item you want rather than tell you where the seller is.
