SeaBee, you'll like this one.

Last July we went to the annual reunion picnic at the birthplace of the SeaBees in Davisville, RI. There's really not much left but a few Quonset huts and some vehicles on display, but I DO like to snap photos, so here are some shots of what's there on display...

Here is a long shot showing some of the huts where they have the small museum and gift shop.

Here is the "Chapel in the pines."

Here are several shots of a salvagable M-100 trailer.

A nice old dozer for you EO types.

A nice old M35 I think?

Me under the Bee. (I actually had my picture taken sitting ON TOP of the Bee wearing greens when it was at the front gate.) If I can find it, I'll post it!

And finally, a very old sign. Way before my time.

OK, You made a friend for life with Seabee. The old dozer looks like a Cat75.

These pictures speak to the efforts of the retired seabees there - still a shame to hear that the center is all but gone. Last time i was in D'ville was in '65 and I did'nt miss the damp cold and rain. The dozer was also known as a winch cat.

Damn nice.....I spent my "A " School at Port Hueneme and base camp out of Gulfport,Ms......the pictures show how we lived hard and worked hard
( actually abused the equipment if it didn't do what we wanted ) . I'm going down to Gulfport to the Seabee Base in a couple of weeks....rebuilt after a couple of Hurricans, ( the one in '69 ??? can't think of it just now and then there was Charles and Katrina ) . I'll get a picture of me and the Gate bee and post it when I get back. Thanks for the info.......Glad to have reinforcements !!!!!! Seabee

Seabee, I don't think you were on hear when I posted this photo so, I'll post it again just for you. This is a sign I painted at the request of the Officer in charge of the MATES # 64 at Fort Carson Colorado when I worked there in the 70s, he was a Seabee at the start of his military career. Check the upper right corner. :)
