My new M43 Project

Unread post by njjeeper » November 3rd, 2011, 9:38 am

Here are some pics from right after I got it home and pressure washed it. Its a 1953 USAF M43. I am wondering how common the fording kit is since this is the first one I have seen on an M37/43...

Contact the people in that link I sent you on the other post, They have several of these. I have never seen the fording kit either. Where the hell is all the snow that was there the other day?

I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I've never understood why an ambulance would have a fording kit. I'm sure the patients strapped into the litters don't like deep water fording. I would think that deep water fording under such circumstances would transform the ambulance into a hearse.

I've seen fording kits on M37s. Usually ones done up as USMC, though. I've never seen one on an M43. I know that the door mounted spare tire carrier on the M43s was so well liked that it became standard on the M37B1s.
