MV graveyard, not 151 related

Unread post by Horst » March 2nd, 2012, 4:04 pm

Passed by a French MV dealer today and shot some photos. First he did not want me on his property, but after sweettalking him a little bit, I walked around for half an hour and shot some photos.

Rough guess that there are a few hundreds WWII vehicles, mainly GMCs and Dodge. WC51, WC56 and quite a few ambulances. Most of it is beyond hope, but a few are in restorable shape. Some are grown over by vegetation, but still hold air in their tyres.

while most have rebuild tags from the French Army in the early 60ties, some still have the orginal hood number:

very rare Delahaye Jeep:

and this is how all of them will end. Talked to the owner who seemed to be happy with the scrap pricing going up. He said he will get more money for sending to scrap than selling them as is. Seems to be no market.

I believed in a graveyard but it is a slaughterhouse by a executioner as the owner. :x

China has pretty much destroyed the surplus market and all of the antiques market for that matter with what they are paying for steel. What the hell, they can afford it because we sourced everything out to them! I still can not figure out how it is cheaper to send all of our scrap to China so they can recycle it back into steel and sell it back to us and ship it all the way back here. There is no way that computes. I know the steel coming back is garbage and I know their labor is slave rate but still. Shipping alone!

Unfortunately, HTN I don't think you can re-import any of that stuff...
