M151A1 in Southern Bavaria

Unread post by on-to-berlin » May 18th, 2012, 3:30 pm

Finally my winter project is finished and road registered. I set it up as 10th Special Forces M151 since the 10th Group was stationed only 25 miles awya from my home town.
The only thing I am still looking for is a nice original canvas top, canvas doors and side curtains to make it perfect.

Welcome to the forum, in order to post pictures you have to first post them to a photo site like Photobucket and then copy the direct link. You are the third German on here. We have Horst from Munich and Richard from ???. He is stopping by my house for a visit on Sunday, I will have to ask where he is from. Horst is our Wiki master and is a good source of info so you might want to look him up.

Hi,
thank you for the advice. ANd it´s great to be on the forum! There are a couple of M151 owners over here!

I try to link the pictures with an upload tool. If it doesn´t work I will have to upload them on my facebook account and link it.

Hello O-T-B,

to use html code for posting pictures on this board, you need the location of the photo.... such as:-
http://cdn03.trixum.de/upload2/F/Y/FYpm ... 3P2957.jpg

Then you add Image
Image to the end of the location, as in
...................FYpmrlAacRu3133740972103P2957.jpg[/img]

When you've finished, you get this:-

That is a nice looking A1. I also really like the scenery! The turn signal lever is different, where is that from?

Looked at another A1 this week, had exactly the same. Was believing this is an earlier style.

Hi Horst,

really? Why do you think it is an early? This one is dated June 1969 so I think this is one of the latest one, right?

Hello again O-T-B,

just noticed the hood number on your M151A1. That number is for a very early M151 (around 1960). The real number may be on your dataplate, if it is the original plate for your vehicle.... why not use that number?

Hi Ken,

thank you for the hint. I only have the frame number but not the hood number. I was assuming the number from pictures that were all around the 1969 date. I know for WW2jeeps there is a way to link the hood number with the production number but I didn´t know the same also goes for M151s. Maybe you can point me in the right direction?

Cheers

Maybe. If you have the "BUDD" tag number, I may be able to find a nearby number in my records, some of which have the hood number also. Let me know what number you have and I will get back to you.
