Adding to The Collection

Unread post by Cobra5 » February 24th, 2013, 12:10 pm

I bought the red truck from a rural fire dept in Wa. state during a sealed bid auction in May 2012. I paid $1100.00 with the intention of using it as a parts truck. However I found that this truck is really complete and I just can't bring myself to ruining it. The yellow truck is a B1 model I bought yesterday from a guy down the road from me. This truck had been sitting next to his shop since 1996 when he bought it from the rural fire dept down the road from us. I've known about the truck for the past 6+ years. A co-worker recently bought the house next door and I asked him last year to ask his neighbor what he was going to do with the truck. I just found out last week that the guy was willing to sell it. He wanted $1K but I got him to drop down to $800.00. The truck is complete and still 24 v but a 12v conversion was done on the ignition system.

Have you ever wondered if these monsters fit on a Uhaul trailer? Well here is the proof. I towed it over 200 miles without a problem.

Image
Finally off the trailer and on the ground.

Image
The guy had an extra axle he gave me with the deal. Looks like someone broke into it because it was partially disassembled. I chained the extra axle to the trucks front axle, all though it looks like I just blocked it.

Image
I think one of my trailer tires needs air.

Tim: You’re going to need to buy the ranch just down the road just to keep all the new vehicles. Nice finds btw, you thinking of a museum next.

I think one tire is flat and the other needs air. Nice trucks, I want one but things have changed financially and my collecting days are over.

I'd like a M37, but I've had my eye on a Subaru WRX STI Rally Raider that's been juiced to 450 HP and has a 6 inch body and suspension lift kit.

I've been wanting to buy a fast car. I had a chance to buy a 2009 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible with less than 5000 miles for a super good price. It was a dealer demonstrator car. But I can't justify a car I can't drive much of the year around here, and would always be dusty because I live at the end of a gravel road. With a rally car, I can drive it all year. With some mud grips, I can drive it even on the rough gravel back roads around here. And rally cars look good with a splattering of mud and dust.

All my stuff is parked outside with the exception of the A-2. However, you'd have to get through my perimeter wire with tin cans attached followed by a double row of 12ft fencing that's protected by a flock of geese.

My aunt had "pet" geese that were meaner than any guard dog

Threw a blanket over the wire, cut the fence and stole the cans which I filled with corn to feed the geese. Car wasn't worth it. Geese are happy though.

Both sweet M-37s!!! Its a disease that is for sure!!!! In 2012 I dragged home my 3rd M-37. It was going to get parted out because it was missing a rear diff and it had some engine parts that were robbed off it to keep another one running. Well I have a spare diff and engine in my barn so it just had to be saved!!

Little did I know that I would add this 4 months later.
