Maybe I can get you a deal on this one...

Re: Salmonmutt motor pool
Over here they are getting better and cheaper. The recent ones sold are fully overhauled and are significantly cheaper than the last deuce I bought. The market started to fill with tractors first, then shop vans and now plenty of nice M923.
Good thing that they require a CDL and fortunately I don't have that. Otherwise my signature would have grown already again.
Keep in mind that while they are almost as cool as a M35, the simplicity of the deuce is gone. This thing has anti-lock brakes, automatic transmission and some have CTIS. Case something fails, you need more than the usual tool box.

Re: Salmonmutt motor pool
True Horst, some simplicity is gone but the A2's are the ones with the CTIS and they also have the 8.2 Cat engine. I would not want that no way no how. Any part you need is a grand and up for that motor. The A1 is the best of all of them. Super single tires with no CTIS, good old Cummins 250, the automatic is an Allison 545 which is no biggie to rebuild if needed and the antilock brakes are no different than a car, just air powered. As far as the CDL, I have one but if you register it as an antique you do not need one or so I am told.

Now is the optimal time to acquire a 900 series truck. GL has a buttload coming out of Sparta. Got to love the Cummins
