Pics of my newest toy
Well it seems another interesting military vehicle has followed me home...this time a military Dnepr 650 motorcycle with hack (sidecar)..pretty cool military version with ammo pannier and machine gun mounts front and rear of sidecar...I found it on the sfo bay area craigslist....I took a chance as the previous owner claimed it DID run at one point....price was right and now its home with me...I took it to a guy in Carson city,Nv. that's been in the biz of working on classic/antique/unique motorcycles....that was a VERY correct move...the 'ol Dnepr needed quite a bit of work to get to a rideable condition...loads of fun riding around..takes a little getting used to the sidecar on turns..I havent 'flown' the hack yet!...here's the pics..

Re: Pics of my newest toy
little tip about hacks from a guy who rode them for almost 30 years---you can turn pretty fast and sharp on the offside, but you have to slow down and make wider turns when going to the hack side. they are a kick. we had 4 different year models on a total of 7 different harleys.

Re: Pics of my newest toy
I was working security for a Social Security office a number of years ago when I saw one of these pull up and park in one of our two handicapped spaces. While making the assumption that nobody riding a motorcycle would need to occupy a handicapped parking space, I went out to reprimand him only to see him pulling a wheelchair out of the side car. It definitely made for good conversation.

It looks pretty much the same as a Ural. I had thought about getting one of them years ago but just never followed through.
