Deuce with Trailer
Hooked up the trailer and dragged it around. I didn't leave the property so I didn't bother hooking up the air line for the brakes or safety chains.
I like the pintle hitch on the front bumper because it makes it easy to push the trailer into a parking spot. BTW that's the wife pushing back the trailer, not bad for someone who has never driven anything bigger than a pickup truck.
Re: Deuce with Trailer
very nice!
I tried to play with my friends M35 yesterday. However only to realize that there are no brakes and the master was bone dry. Could not figure out yet where all the fluid went. It is a non-turbo M49 actually.

Re: Deuce with Trailer
What happens is the air pack unit for the air over hydraulic braking system will pass the fluid past the diaphragm and then it will drop the fluid level. Normally this is a sign for a need of an air pack rebuild.Horst wrote:very nice!

Another telltale sign is the fluid stains at the firewall where the air regulator valve is located. It vents there hence fluid spray (mist). I know this is G838, but I hope this helps....

Oh yes, that is very helpful and I don't think people will mind. Will check at the air regulator right now

Alright , checked at the regulator but everything looks dry there. But as I cannot see anything leaking anywhere, should be the air pack? Should I put some fluid in it and check again for leaks or is it almost a given the air pack is shot ?

Re: Deuce with Trailer
Horst-
I would add fluid and bleed accordingly. Most likely it is still going to pass . I've had this happen with my formal M35. There will also be a "oiling port" on the air pack for the diaphragm. If you need technical manual advice I can scan documents when I'm home. I'm out of state working right now so I can't scan right at this moment. I'll help any way I can.

Re: Deuce with Trailer
Doug,
No hurry. I am about to leave and it will be weeks or months coming back and the deuce will just sit there waiting. I had two M35A2c in Germany, but sold the last one 2 years ago as it is too big for me to work on. Never had a brake problem however so that is uncharted waters for me. But I think they are so awesome to drive so I cannot have this one sit here at a friends location and not be able to drive it once in a while. Being a tanker it is super low miles and actually in relative good shape. But all the years sitting is taking its toll.

Re: Deuce with Trailer
You sir a correct. Every time I start the deuce up she comes outside to see what I'm doing and asks if I'll let her drive it. The jeep is a little different because I can get down the driveway before she notices I'm leaving and by then its too late.rickf wrote:By letting her drive it.Floyd wrote:Tim: The Deuce and Trailer do go together, looks good.
