Sunday ride

Unread post by Horst » August 17th, 2014, 3:02 pm

Pulled the jeep out of storage yesterday and decided to drive thru the beautiful Bavarian landscape and eat at a traditional Bavarian pub. Jeep did the 100 miles round trip right out of hibernation without any issues.

Great photos Horst, the town in the last photo reminds me of Kulmbach just north of Bayreuth. 8)

And back to storage with the thing. Pulled out the M201 after 4 years of sleep and will try to make it roadworthy.

Horst, good shots. Talking about German food made my mouth water. A little schweinshaxen, rosenkraut, and kartoffel would work wonders right now.
Best of luck with the 201.

As usual, the front wheel cylinders, marked Made in USA, are ok, the rear ones, some unknown origin, leak like the fountain at the Bellagio.

I almost forgot how small the Jeep compared to the 151 is, and how much simpler. Except that I hate that you have to remove drive shafts and wheel bearings to get to the brakes. That is so much easier on the 151.

No worries. I had to change out an oil thermostat on the red one and made a mistake doing so. As such any brake fluid dribble will actually clean up...

You?, Made a mistake? On the Porsche? I find that hard to believe.

First mistake was replacing it. Cause turned out it wasn't broken. Second mistake was underestimating the amount of oil that would seep out. Third mistake was that I had the jack stand exactly at the point where the oil dripped out so no chance to quickly use a catch pan. :)
