I'm going saturday as well. A few years ago I went, rode my motorcycle down on sunday, I got there and came to find out everyone was packing up to leave, Got back on my bike and rode home, two and a half hours each way for nothing.. Hopefully there will be some dealers that have mutt parts.
Re: Findlay, Ohio May 15, 16 & 17, 2009
I may be down there on saturday also. If the weathers good we'll ride the motorcycle down.

I have a pretty good sized bag of 223 brass. I haven't shot any 308 in quite awhile. Can't afford to replace it.
Do you want the 223?

Re: Findlay, Ohio May 15, 16 & 17, 2009
Findlay, Ohio Armed Forces Day has come and gone, and other than rain on Saturday canceling the Pass and Review, it went very well. I had called "shotgun" for a ride with Kevin Hess in his freshly restored weasel, but perhaps he will bring it to Studebaker night at a local car event we attend. Lots of food vendors, lots of parts purveyors, and with seven or eight M151's in attendance, it was a good event. As for the G838 members, not so good. I did speak to Motorcity Man by phone as I arrived at the event, but we never got together during the show. Ida34 was going to be there, but I never heard from or saw him either. I located Bob Croce with little effort under his orange and white tents, as his son helped in tracking tent pole sales and other inventory. Bob and I met up with 4 future G838 members from Ohio and Illinois, and did a 2 vehicle civilian convoy to a Mexican restaurant for food and refreshments. Bob may need to fill in the blanks, as my frozen strawberry margarita may have clouded my memory. I remember Tom, Mike and Bonnie, but am at a loss for the guy that sat next to me. Bob's new M-60 was displayed with pride atop his kick-ass M151A1, and now he has the manuals to display with it. I picked up some misc parts from Bob and the other vendors including a black water can I looked at last year but passed on it because it had a spigot mounted on the bottom. After a post referring to a similar can, I bought it and now my A2 also has "running water" added to it's list of attributes. Findlay is definitely a worthwhile event for those withing a few hours from that part of the state. As for pictures, I have none and saw few being taken. Until I replace my digital camera (it's ordered and in the mail), I am without images, sorry.

Rainman, I was looking for the grey haired guy walking around but damn near everyone there had grey hair Old military vehicles attract old timers I guess
I was the big fella with a goatee wearing the harley davidson rain gear gawking at the ferret, I've always wanted one of those ferrets. Something about putting a big loud speaker on it and driving it down into the hood playing country music like oddball in Kelly's heros floats my boat
I picked up some odds and ends but nothing special really, I was looking for a new grill but didn't see many mutt parts other than some canvas and windshields. I did pick up a new switch that i'm hoping will work with my heater, looks like a heater switch but isn't one.
All in all it was a nice show, got a good amount of rain but that cleared up and the sun came out which was nice. I did pick up a carton of smokes for 40 bucks compared to michigan prices at 65 lol..

I am sorry I did not get to meet up with you Rainman. I forgot your number at home. I was tooling around the show with some of my Steel Soldiers buddies. They were in the Deuce and M108 wrecker behind the Ferret. I think I saw motorcity crawling around the Ferret. I was dressed in Chocolate Chip Camo BDU pants and a Sherman T shirt. I picked up a Field Desk, two M151 Radio mounts, a M155 powder canister, a whole bunch of M151 canvas in one lot, and a few small parts here and there. The big thing was picking up my M151 rotisserie from the deuce. A friend picked it up and drove it to the show for me. I got so into talking with my buddies that I really did not get too much time to look at the vehicles close. There always seems to be a lot of M151's represented. The rain really slowed things down and my wife was calling about me returning home.

Hey ida34,
ida34, if you were grabbing up a pile of side curtains and about to grab up the canvas doors, I was right next to you and hovering over them like a buzzard, asking myself if they were canvas M151 parts. But they were indeed, and it looked like they were all being moved at once. I saw lots of 151 parts including 4 different 60 amp generators, cases of wheel seals, radios and antenna parts to include a cherry PRC/77 Bob Croce sold there. Saw a few sirens, A few M-416 trailers, a gull winged tool trailer, and a stack of Denman CCND tires that were already spoken for before I spotted them. Bob C. steered me to a more than reasonable set of OD coveralls with pockets all them, and we went in on a quantity deal of 151 wheel seals.
Motorcity, I guess there were a few gray haired guys in attendance, but I was the ONE with the foo man choo mustache. There were a bunch of big guys with Harley shirts too. I know I know, you were the one with the goatee As a club we need to get together and toast "The 8" when ever possible, and Croce and me were there Hope to see you at the next one, and the Mid-Ohio is coming up. Last year's Mid-Ohio was not as well attended as Findlay, but will be this year I hope. Findlay is kind of a sleeping giant. Nobody hears much about it, and it's a large, very well attended event.

Re: Findlay, Ohio May 15, 16 & 17, 2009
I have suggested it for events on the Steel Soldiers Website and think it would be great hear too. We should have name tags with our screen names and avatars on them. It would make it much easier to meet up. I think I remember seeing you while I was loading up the canvas. I have not had a chance to look through them too close but I gave $100 for all of it. The doors may not be able to be saved but I will look closer later. The side panels all have windows that are not clear. I may be able to clean them up. They are still flexible but dirty. The tops are one canvas with split window and one vinyl. The windows on the canvas top looks pretty good. The window on the vinyl is pretty cloudy. The big thing is the actual canvas on the top and the sides is in very good condition. The doors not so much but I only look real close at the canvas top and bought based on that. Now I just need to start the restoration on the beast.

ida34,
"The Beast" sounds like a good name for your project. I was given a CD last night that has fantastic pictures of the Findlay, Ohio event. I will post them when I have tim. They were submitted by my friend Kevin, a truly dedicated MV restorer and collector. I'm still trying to get it together to leave for Aberdeen and hob-nob with the elite Think I heard Rick may be a judge for the M151 class vehicles. That was a wise choice in my opinion! As for any warnings that may have been issued on my behalf, lock up your liquor, your women and jeeps are safe!
