2013 Graves Mountain Trailrides in Virginia

Just a heads up to everyone that the dates for the VA Rally (aka: Graves Mountain MV Trailrides and Rally) are August 29-Sept 3, 2013.
Same basic plan as last year, with even more new trails

We get to use all the Lodge facilities for the rally, and there are a lot of things for families to do so if folks don't want to OD on the green vehicles or trailrides, they don't have to, they can hike, hang out at the pool, tour the nearby wineries/antique shops/historic sites, shop, horseback ride (extra fee), etc...

We will once again be having truck games on Saturday afternoon (so that folks have something to do while the pig is cooking).

Trails run from very mild to a tad wild so you can choose the level of difficulty that you want to run. We'll also be doing some convoys on the local county/state roads (mixed paved and gravel), low water fords, etc... We will have a ride that starts earlier in the morning this year for the more hard corps folks, a mid-morning ride for those who like to take it easier (and who want one of the Graves' famous breakfasts...), and a midafternoon ride...

Hope to see a bunch of you in late August,

The edits for the website have been sent to our site host and should be up very soon... :)

Registration and other info is located on the event website at http://www.gravesmountaintrailrides.com/

That shot of RickF fording one of the local steams is one of my favorites... It was the inspiration for the 2010 t-shirt...

There are actually 300 or so photos from each year that are on my Facebook page. They'll get migrated to the trailride page sometime in the next two weeks).

With the exception of the t-shirt page, this year's updates have been made to the site (so the information for 2013 is correct).

Hope to see a bunch of you there so that we can drool over the vehicles at "play". :)

Just thought that I would mention that I will be at the rally location this weekend with Steve's crew cutting trees... We've had a few come down over the trails since last fall...

I plan on being there but probably minus a vehicle this year. Will still be rehabbing the new knee. You will have to get someone else to provide the "falling down the mountain" this year for entertainment.

Rick
Roger that... :)
We will enlist one of the new guys for that duty... You can hold up a scorecard when they are done... :)
I'll put your name on your corner and will see that it is mowed for your arrival.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that we don’t have cell phone coverage around the Lodge and the camping area. So bring your CB, military radio, or FRS radio if you have them (the most common communication device for the trails will be CB’s based on past experience…). Frequencies/Channels used at the event will be posted at the registration tent.

Just a reminder that you still have time to register and join in the fun.

So far, I have folks comming with everything from a 1/4 ton (Rick is going to see if he knee is in good enough shape to drive...) up to five ton trucks (and a halftrack...). The trails are best in a 1/4 to 5/4 ton truck, but the orchard roads and county/state ones can handle the big stuff.

For those of you who can make it, you can bring stuff to sell/trade... :)
I had a couple folks ask me to bring some paint, and some M37 parts, and some water jugs, etc. So I will.
If you need something and are comming, post it so somebody can bring it for you... If you have something you'd like to part with, bring it...

The website with registration and other information is located at: http://www.gravesmountaintrailrides.com/

Hope to see a bunch of you there.
