Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I got at least 1 pic of each of the civilian jeeps that where being shown. I don't know if that pink job was used in the TV Show, but it sure looks like the same ones they had on that show. (maybe not in pink, but the same frilly top, and striped seating)

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
On the civilian jeep that had the diesel motor. Yes BS3 is correct. It was made for special ops. The idea was to go places where the bigger M998 HMMWV can't go and to blend in to 3rd world companies better than a mill hummer would. It has all sorts of bells and wistles and a cummins 3.3l diesel...very nice and very quiet.
The pink jeep was owned by two sisters (no not nuns, but ciblings) it a DJ-3 (basically a CJ-3A in two wheel drive with the shift on the colume). It was made that way as a package promotional jeep. Kinda of like the Transam was a special Firebird...anyway it was called the "Surrey With The Fringe On Top". The musical Oaklahoma must have just come out about the same time..lol. Anyway we talked to the ladies and they are now trying to find it's brother the Tuxedo Park model. If I remember the conversation their father purchased the jeep for them for their 16th birthday (maybe they were twins?) as a used car and they have owned it ever since.

There is one nut on a M151 that is very difficult to remove.....
Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
I must say that I had a great time. MUTT people are great! Lots of MUTTs in attendance. I learned a lot about radios and heard quite a few stories from actual users of these machines. The M60 drew quite a few questions ( From,Is it real?, to, I thought Machine Guns weren't legal.) Met great MUTT people and look forward to seeing them again. Alas a prior commitment kept me away on Saturday. Hopefully not next year. If you are in the area give me a holler. I am working on another M151 and hope to have it ready next year. An aftermarket body that will get bucket seats, non OD paint and anything else I might think of.

Hey Steve,
It took alot to get you to come out of the woodwork. Your display was way cool. You were conspicuously absent on Saturday, sorry you couldn't make it back. You missed the ohiomutt traveling show! That alone was worth twice the price of admission. I'm interested in your aftermarket body, any pictures of the project? Since my A2 is now somewhat officially "a hybrid", I'd like to see what is and was out there for these jeeps. With the inspections mine went thru, we can all see how mine was done, but were just not sure why it was done. Good to see you here and posting.

Rainman, I'll try to get some pictures in the near future. I have to move the 2nd M151 back into the work area of the shop and that won't happen until I get a few other jobs out of the way. Stuff that has to be taken care before summers end.

Incidentally, I was intrigued by the comments that we had more members there than any other group..... should we maybe actually be a legitimate club? Do we have enough members in the MVPA to be an affiliate? Food for thought maybe, what do you guys all think?

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
Hi Jim. I think we have the opportunity here to do that and perhaps turn the Mid-Ohio MV Rally into "THE M-151" event of the year to attend. though I could not be there this year, I will be there next year with or with out my Mutt. I wish to thank all for the photos and comments about the good time had by those that could make it this time. Lets see what we can do.
Dan.

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
I'm all for makin' Mid-Ohio the M151 event (least for this side of the country) to be at every year. We had a blast, and will probably either rent a cabin next year or pitch a tent. The drive to and from wasn't that bad, but after such a long day in the heat and walking around, it would of been nice to have just set up camp there and go to sleep, rather than drive home.
They where trying very hard to get me to join all sorts of MV clubs while at Mid-Ohio too. So which ones should we actually join? And do we both need to be members, or can we both use one membership (i dont need 2 sets of magazines and flyers coming to my house!)?
I'll join your club though Moose, no matter what.

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
First off.....Oh my eyes!....
Secondly. I have to renew my membership in the MVPA...lack of funds....but I don't know if a cyber club...which is what this is more or less would be allowed as an affiliate for the MVPA. Would be worth looking into.
I have long deep reasons why I'm not a member of the Buckeye MVC!

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
what is a phone? Oh wait, that is that thing that anybody can make ring (if they have the right number) and then I gotta talk to them. I like the internet better.
