Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
While its true we are residents of cyberspace here, it just seemed to me that since we have a bunch of our folks going to the shows like aberdeen, tower park, gilbert pa, and now ohio it makes us more of an actual club than most of the irl clubs out there. We could even hold a monthly meeting on stickam in a group video chat room lol....I meet with everyone here more than the local club I belong to....

Gee TX,
Don'tcha remember, a phone is what rings when you put your number in the internet! You don't have to talk to us just cause we paste pictures of you on the internet. but it's nice that you do!
As for Moose53, our commander & Chief, I consider this a club, hence my representation of of our presence at the Mid-Ohio. I think the plug we gave and the push we made here, had a very positive effect on the rally, and will again next year. Tom Woboldt wrote to me and mentioned he had requested "same time next year" for the rally, but would confirm with me as soon as he could. We had more M151's there alone, than any other era vehicle combined, ie WW2 or Korea. so it was an important aspect to the rally. Now if I had rec'd a G838 shirt at the gate, TX would not have been gifted such a cherished item. I'd be wearing it next year, to show my commitment to our group. We as a group made a drive through town for the civilian spectators, to let them know we were there, ad to provide a showing. This is what we fought for at the other site, and were denied. We are a club of owners that deserve respect for our commitment to, and for our vehicles. Outlaws or not, we are a brotherhood to be acknowledged and respected, as is our era. We preserve the history many of us lived, and continue to live. We are the Vietnam era, and deserve our welcome home. I'm a proud member of the G838...OOPs, I fell off my soap box, Moose, give me a hand here, I've fallen, and I can't get up...
Rainman
PS: I counted ltsimp as a member during ther rally count, and offically he was not a member here until a few days later. We of the 838 still kicked A$$ at the rally. Welcome th the 838 Steve, thanks for not making a liar out of me. John and Kevin, it's time to join here and make your presence known.

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
Hate to do back to back posts, but rereading Moose's post about the MVPA affiliate, that's pretty cool!. I and we have stayed away from the MVPA for a variety of reasons, namely, lack of recognition of our vehicles as a whole. As we are possibly the last era of vehicles to be released to the public, and maybe the first group past the ban of release, the tides may be changing. If we could be considered equals to the old MVPA guys and not unwanted step children like we were on the G503, I'm all for it. We bring a lot to the party in the way of active membership & $ spent in the hobby. Moose might get details and let us know our options and possibilities.

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
I was glad to help you out Rainman. I think that a club based off of this site would be a great idea. I know I would become a member. As to the Ohio rally becoming the M151 event of the year, that is fine by me too. I only live 10 miles away and probably could help with some of the pre event activities as it applied to the M151 group.
Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
Sounds like this event was really fun. Not sure if anyone puts on a big MV event in Kansas or not, but if they don't they sure should.

Re: Mid-Ohio MV Rally and Swap Meet?
I would definitaly join but as far as the Ohio show, In the last year gas has gone up 300+ %, Food, 30%. In the same time frame my pay has increased 4.5%. I think the Aberdeen show is all I am going to be able to afford and maybe not even that! . For you guy's that heat with wood consider this, A cord of Oak costs me 160.00! Five years ago it was 50 - 60 dollars.

Hey rickf,
The key may be to invest in a towbar. Drive to the roadside rest on the highway headed this direction, and make a sign that says "Tow to Ohio", and maybe a car full of college coeds will offer you a tow in a patriotic show of good will. Bet they would let you ride up front in air conditioned comfort, eatin cheetos and drinking bottled water. You may smell like perfume for the next 2 days, but you make it to the Mid-Ohio M151 Rally with your jeep gettin 200 miles to the gallon. Where's the bad? Getting home?, well I'm working on that one.

I'll keep that in mind Dan, although the code idea does not sound all that bad! I will be down your way in Sep. sometime. I don't know the date but I go to an antique engine show down there. I'll dig up the address and you can tell me if I am close.

Rick, Elkton isn't that far, on US-40 about 5 miles from the Delaware line. Let me know when and where and I'll bring some Tiger Beer!
