Be careful with the winch you might rip the front right off of your jeep, remember these are uni-body and spot welded together....looks cool.... good luck HTN...

Many peple like to claim no M151 series Jeeps ever had winches, when I know myself that plenty had them.

I installed at least 40 over the years.

If I recall the name of the winches correctly they were made by a company named Bachman, I think.

The winch will not pull the whole front of the M151 off as the uni-body was designed to flex.

I wish I had a picture of one now as I would love to post it.

I remember God about 25 years ago a bunch of us got stinking drunk after duty hours during a FTX and some one decided to winch a whole M151A2 off the ground and hang it in a tree...LOL

The expression of the day was "HIGH TIME WE HAD A HANGING"...LOL

I remeber two type of winches one was electic and another winch was gas powered and had a small engine like a lawnmower for power with a clutch type speed setting too if I Remember, correctly, I think the Gas powered motorized type were meant for something other then a M151 Jeep but back in those days stuff just walked out of Supply and went where ever Commanders and NOC's at the time decided they would best serve their purpose...LOL

Ah now those were the days were paper trails would simply disapear...LOL

The M151 Jeeps with winches were used in off road convoys and were well known to help a few other Jeeps out during heavy rainy type weather.

I am going to ask around to a few guys I served with and see if anyone can hook me up with some pictures and the exact name of the company that made the winches.

They were a special order item and were not installed on most line unit vehicles.

Sme one on the this or the G503 most likely has one and don't even know they have a winch used on the M151.

I also remember seeing a few newer winches on M151A2 FAV's over the years as well.

Anyway ZIKY your winch looks the bomb buddy.

Got to love how this little vehicle and hobby connect you with people around the world. I'm waiting to see if we will ever hear from someone in Russia or other former east block countries.

Ziky,
We were in Israel in the 80's and the bus was stopped on the way to Masada by a couple of IDF guys armed to the teeth and turned us around because of heavy rain washed out the road. They had a old beat and dinged up M151 with a mounted M-60 as I recall. How long did they use the M151 and are there still any in use???
