Vehicle Bumper Markings

Unread post by eflexter » July 26th, 2016, 3:06 pm

Would there be a general database of vehicle markings of the U.S. military, such as division designations normally stenciled on bumpers? Are old markings from the 60's the same as today?

I can't read the markings on my Mutt very well. It looks like either "G 44" or possibly "Q 44" (as in HQ 44 I guess) on the back bumper. I'd sure like to figure out what that means or if there is another likely option and get all the markings put back on correctly.

Nearby military bases would be Fort Riley or Fort Leavenworth here in Kansas. DeSoto Kansas where I live had the Sunflower Ammunition Plant which was a huge military facility. Or maybe it was just in an Army Reserve parking lot for years. Or maybe it came from someplace else completely. I need some education on the topic.
