It doesn't appear that anyone contributed photos of that elusive spare tire mount ID number? Kinda like a snipe, right?

Yep, No pictures. We have info on 4 locations, but nothing on the spare tire area. Or what years this may occur on or what serial number range they could encompass.
It might be nice to know when visiting DMV or proving to that one idiot that knows better than we do. :lol:
You know we have met such. :lol: :roll:
Still crazy after all these years.

There "were" a couple pictures on here from several years ago when this first came up but I would doubt they are still around thanks to photobucket. There are very few people that subscribe to that location theory. I believe it may have just been a deal where someone on the assembly line stamped the body in front of them. Just a way of identifying a body they personally did. There are just not enough examples of them and no pattern whatsoever. In the pics I saw the numbers were stamped haphazardly and not in a semi neat line, like someone did it in a hurry. There are a few people who are going to swear that it is a legit way of id'ing the vehicle but they are ones who originally came up with this. My answer is this, show me a pattern, show me a definite grouping of vehicles that covers a definite time period in sequence. Then I will believe it. I don't think there have been more than ten or fifteen documented cases. And no pattern to them.

Sorry gentlemen
I've been off the site, I have the picture of the number I found on the spare tire mount, 26682. If Rick or some would email me at malonecsm@yahoo.com I will respond with the photos attached as I can't seems to upload from this site.

I believe that is too many digits for the Ordanance number, do you also have the body assy. number/ What is this on and is it a Ford Budd tag or an A2 Body tag?

Matt, can you post a picture of the plate, please? As Rick said....that number is too long.... and that second "8" isn't an "8".... look closer.....
Ken
Kind regards....

Halfdunn here posting pics of my BUDD tag. Obviously my recorded number for license tags is incorrect. Previous owner did not track down all the numerals correctly. Still looking for help with a year model. No numbers on my rear spare tire mount.

Thanks for the posting info on pics.

Yes....here we are again with another number to run :D

Here's what you have.
Vehicle is a late-model Ford M151A1;
Built under Contract DA20-113-AMC-07507-(T)-(MYP)
Would have been delivered Jan 1968;
If it was delivered to the army, it would have had a hood number in the region of 2R 39xx. (I'd suggest 2R 3940).
Does this help? Let me know....and we would love to see some photos of your vehicle too.

Now it's off to ye jolly old castle for me.
Ken
Kind regards....
Ken
