A1 & A2 Dash material thickness - input needed

Unread post by lpcoating » November 2nd, 2016, 7:38 am

I noticed that the material thickness of the NOS dash that I have and my '68 A1 dash are different. A1 is 18 ga and the NOS dash from Buddy is 20 ga. Anyone know if all A2 dashes are 20 ga? I'm guessing this was done to lower the cost at some point during manufacturing? Any input would be helpful as I'm getting ready to send to programming.

I'm sure those panels came from some of the last A2's built, perhaps some of the early A2's could be 18ga?????

I will check tomorrow. I did notice all of the cutouts on that dash panel that would not normally be on the earlier ones like the heater kit cut outs and some of the access holes. The one to the top right of the steering wheel has me guessing. The strange part is it is drilled for three circuit breakers, A2's only used two.

Just posted on your other thread, I went out and got my micrometer and got sidetracked by a tree branch in the road and then the missus wanted something from the store. The mic is still sitting on the table. I will go out first thing in the morning and give you a call.
