NEW TO THE SITE, NOT NEW TO THE MUTT
Folks,
Just wanted to say hello. I have a 1979 M151A2 that I purchased overseas (Guatemala to be exact). A friend of mine happened upon a "lot" of military vehicles that were being sold at a government auction and it included a number of 6 axle deuces (very popular for farm work in Central America) and some M151A2. I was told this lot came from a storage location in Shreveport area.
My Mutt had about 50 miles on it and my friend had the vehicles "refurbished" with new tires, canvas, seats, hoses, wiring, etc.. In Guatemala they wouldn't allow army green so they had to repaint them desert sand to import them.
I lived in a city (Antigua) that has cobble stone streets and this is really tough on a regular car, but not on the jeep with it's independent coil suspension. Plenty of mountain roads, dirt roads, and volcanoes to explore. The jeep was a blast there.
I relocated to Nicaragua in 2006 so brought my jeep there, which is where it currently resides. It still carries Guatemala registration (long story) and license plate, and I only use it but maybe 2 times a year. We go to the beaches and did some volcano climbing as well. Basically we tool around town giving the kids rides.
My plan is to maintain the jeep as original as I can and I have been looking for some parts and advise, found George at AJP who was very helpful in all respects.
Hope to exchange stories and ideas, get advise, and will post some cool photos once I can figure out how to.
Look forward to exchanging with you guys.
p.s. I actually live now in the Miami area but the jeep stays in Nicaragua.

Re: NEW TO THE SITE, NOT NEW TO THE MUTT
Thanks Ken! Good to see you here.
That was my first 4X4 course in the jeep. As you can note I had to get pulled out of that hole, then one other. On this day I was the last to go so the course was well torn up. Only the first 4X4 made it without assist. I made it about the farthest until I got stuck.
Suffice to say it took a while to clean that jeep up. My radiator slots were plugged with mud and started to overheat. End of the day for me, but loads of fun.
I'll figure out how to do uploads and post some more photos.
Cheers!
