Ground testing M151 engine

Unread post by agwrangler » February 11th, 2017, 12:58 pm

Ok ladies.... I am stuck. I need to do a compression check on the MUTT engine I have mounted to a pallet. I need to get the 24 volt hookup. I got the positive of one battery to the starter. I have the negative of the other battery to a ground point. Now.... Obviously I cannot just jump the two batteries neg to pos. There has to be some sort of switch in the middle of some sort..... So what do i do here? NEVER tried to do this to a 24 engine before. cant find info anywhere about it. Any help is appreciated.

you hook the two batteries together in series to get 24 volts, connect the ground cable to engine block, the positive cable to a switch terminal, the other side of the switch to the starter, close the switch to run the starter, open the switch to stop it.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. I was being an idiot. I just used the ground to tough to the engine and crank it for a few revolutions. Then took it off engine to stop it. Idiot. Sometimes I amaze myself at how stupid I can be.
