I should be so lucky

If this is true, it's a very cool story. Imagine finding gold bars in the fuel tank of your recently acquired historic military vehicle..

Enjoy.

Interesting they do not show the actual gold nor the tank it came out of. And do they get to keep it or does it get returned to Iraq? If this guy has 150 military vehicles, apparently a lot of them are tanks from his business name, then he is already quite well off. It would never happen to one of us who needs it.

Kuwait will likely claim it's theirs. Iraq will also claim it's theirs. The previous owner may even claim it's his. In the end, if he lays any claim to it, the process of doing so will likely cause him more heartache than any benefit. Frankly, had I found it no one would have ever known about it. I would have melted it down, put is aside and let my heirs squabble over it.

Nick Mead operates Tanks-A-Lot not many miles from where I live in the English Midlands. He is a well-known face on the UK MV scene and been around for many years keeping a lot of old vehicles running and accessible to the general public.

The tank is an ex-Iraqi Type 69, the Chinese-built version of the Soviet T54. And it was refreshing to see that in these litigious days the guy who sold him the tank for £30,000, not knowing there was £2 million worth of gold inside, has asked that if it all comes good for Nick - he owes him a pint of beer! Now that is sporting behaviour.

Good luck to Nick, he deserves some good fortune.

That is good to hear and thanks for letting us know. Now lets hope the government lets him have the gold without taxing 3/4 of the value of it. With your monetary situation right now I fear the worst.
