Greetings!
I am new to the forum. I've worked on cars for a long time but mainly newer chevrolets etc. My dad bought an M151 years back and its been pretty durable but we are going to start fixing a few things as a father son project. I will be bugging you guys for help as we fix a few of the issues.
I've already started reading about the differentials and the 24V systems here a little bit. Right now we are having problems getting it started as easy as it used to. Also my dad said he is have problems with the turn signals blowing out every time he replaces them. I am not sure if the replacements he bought are made for the 24v system etc but he said they were direct replacements. We are very very green with this vehicle in our knowledge but we can learn very quickly especially with the help of the forum.

Welcome aboard, Walter! You'll get plenty of help from the fellows, here on the G838. Tell us more about your truck and show us pictures (lots and lots of pictures) which are worth a thousand words.
Give us more details about your truck's issues so the lads can get started on helping you. While the M151 is a rugged little vehicle, certain things have to be "just so" for it to perform.

Welcome to the forum. I am pretty sure you will get the info needed from a few folks hanging around. As said, post pictures (remember you need to host them somewhere else, such as Photobucket and then link them when creating a new message).

One thing to remember when starting a 151 is there is no accelerator pump in the carburetor until after it is running since it is vacuum controlled. That said, you can pump the gas til the cows come home and it will not start unless you pull the choke all the way out and the choke has to be adjusted so it closes all the way. No choke means no start. And if bulbs are blowing right away then he is probably putting 12 volt bulbs in.

walter, if you are near a NAPA store, i used to get 24v bulbs there when needed.

Is the setup you have all stock or have there been things altered to the engine or the electric system? Once its all stock things are easy to fix.
Did you download all the repair manuals yet?
