The next phase - engine work

Unread post by kmam » May 3rd, 2017, 6:27 am

Today we pulled the power plant from my A2 and did some initial checks. Main bearing is good (less than 2/1000), clutch is good (plate is copper - is this normal?) but need a couple of bits, hopefully that is all but there may be more.

Also need some data, e.g. torque settings for the engine bearing.

What is the best document to find such info and where am I most likely to be able to order all the parts rather than getting them from a number of suppliers? Cost of freight to Australia makes it better to deal with one supplier.

The pieces I now need are:

Oil pump
Big end (con rod) bolts and nuts
Sump gasket
Exhaust flange gasket
Throw out bearing
Spigot bearing.

You will want both the -20 and the -34 manuals that you can download from the manual section here. The -34 will have the engine assembly torque specs in it. Can't help with parts suppliers. I do know that Owens exports in California has a very good reputation and sells overseas. Murray sells overseas but the reputation and price leave a bit to be desired.

Oil pan gasket and pilot bearing (my guess).
