151 A-1 Slave Recepticle
My A-1 Does not have a slave receptacle and i believe they were all built without them. I intend to install one and was wondering if there was a different location allocated for the A-1 or would it have originally been installed in the same location as on an A-2.

Same place and it was installed as part of the heater installation kit.

I was thinking about this and don't want to cut into my cowl on my A1.
On the M37 I have seen the slave cables go to the positive terminal of the starter and the negative to a bolt for ground.
I thought about using a M38 style metal angle slave holder mounted on the passenger fender and running one cable to the starter and another to ground.

You can mount it anywhere, the cowl is the correct place. You can use the body for ground but you may not get full current in a jump situation due to resistance in the connections at the body in several places.

I've a seen a Mutt with the slave receptacle on the front wall of the battery box. It was at the military museum in Columbia, SC.
